Shipping Container Home Designed For Sustainable Family Living

In this weeks episode, we explore this lovely family home which has been constructed using shipping containers. Named the South Coast Container House, this home has been sustainably constructed using four shipping containers and has also been extended to enclose communal spaces. At 95 square meters (1000 square feet) this home is capable of sleeping 10 people and has been divided into a main 85 square meter home, with an additional 15 square meter sleep-out made from a single 20ft shipping container.

350? For that size of a home? Seems a lot even by California standards. I'm yet to see anyone build small or tiny home that is truly minimalistic. Lowering footprint costs a lot and being "poor" seems simply unaffordable.

The idea of living 'big' in a 'tiny house' bothers me. The gimmick of starting with a shipping container then building it into a very expensive home is dumb. You took something we should be doing for our homeless and turned it into a youtube channel glorifying extravagance.

If you have the money and the land, as many of the houses you record do, putting a container home on tens of acres of land is silly. That's my take on it and I've been wrong before, but I own this.

I like the container home but could use a bit of colours to pop up the whole house.

With containers of that size only running about 10-20k, American; that means he had to use the mass majority to build it out. That's crazy. Not 100% sure of best use for the money but I understand he was also going super environmental which can be expensive.

Amazing ideas! I am stoked for my shipping container project! I don't have kangaroos in my backyard, but a lovely forest that will do just fine. Thanks for great ideas.

Thanks for sharing, never heard of the chrome thing so lesson learned. Now, part of this simple lifestyle for me is more financial freedom (need less = need less financial resources = gain more free time to enjoy what matters) so I’m trying to do similar as this person so as beautiful as their home is it’s too expensive overall. Thank you so much for all your videos that have inspired me to start planning for a better, simpler future before my kids get much older.

95 square meters is 1022.57 square feel and not 102 square feet as pointed out on the video😊.
